Tips for Planning for a Roadside Emergency

These are a few roadside emergency preparation tips to keep you safer in the event you run into trouble.

  • Always call 911 when the car is disabled. If anyone offers to help, tell them the police have been notified and are on the way, to scare them away if they have other intentions.
  • It is always a good idea to keep flashlights and new batteries in the trunk for emergency. It can help you to flag down help or to make some repairs when it is too dark to see.
  • Always check that you have a tire iron and jack in the car. Pack some cans of tire inflator so you can get the car moving to a service station if one or more tires have a leak.
